About us
Learning needs more than motivation — it needs access.
EmpowerED Africa gUG is a German nonprofit limited-liability company based in Lübeck, founded in 2025. We support schools in Africa with computers, internet access, and reliable digital infrastructure — so digital education becomes part of everyday learning.
Our story
From a Kumasi market to a computer lab.
In November 2024, our founder travelled as a volunteer to Christian Life Academy in Bremang, Kumasi, Ghana. The motivation of the children and teachers was enormous — but IT lessons were often only theoretical, taught from textbooks, without any computers available.
That observation led to a direct response: 15 computers were bought locally at a Kumasi market and handed over to the school. It was the beginning of a larger project.
The school responded with a strong commitment: they tore down and rebuilt a structure to properly house the computer lab. In January 2025, the lab was expanded to more than 40 modern PCs with monitors — including a teacher computer, projector, air conditioning, and later Starlink internet.
Our mission
We close the gap between motivation and opportunity.
In many African schools, what’s missing isn’t willingness to learn — it’s computers, internet, learning materials, and reliable infrastructure.

Why a gUG?
A “gemeinnützige Unternehmergesellschaft” (gUG) is a capital entity with a charitable purpose under German law. It provides clear liability structures, enables professional operation, and legally requires us to use funds exclusively for charitable purposes — enforced by the responsible tax office.
For donors this means: donation receipts (Zuwendungsbescheinigungen) can be issued, donations are tax-deductible under German law, and the use of funds is legally and organizationally safeguarded.
Concrete impact
Every donation supports concrete work on the ground.
€25 can help fund one month of Starlink internet. €500 can help provide one refurbished school PC.
The tax receipt (Zuwendungsbescheinigung) is sent by email. The statutory requirements for charitable status have been confirmed by Finanzamt Lübeck under §60a AO.
