Around 90% goes into project-related costs such as equipment, infrastructure, operations, and logistics. Administration and communication currently account for about 10%. These figures are preliminary guidance based on current 2025/2026 project costs; actual figures will be published with the annual report. Yes, by email after payment is received, once all required information is available. For donations up to €300, a simplified donation record together with proof of payment is usually sufficient. Over €300, you receive an official Zuwendungsbescheinigung using the official template. We archive the receipt for ten years under § 50 EStDV. We still recommend keeping the PDF with your tax records.

Yes. We never publish donor names. For the German tax receipt, we do need your name and address — that is a legal requirement. We use those details only for receipts, accounting, and legal documentation purposes.

Card (Visa, Mastercard, AmEx), SEPA direct debit, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal — all via Stripe and PayPal. Classic bank transfer goes to the account at the bottom of this page. We do not accept cryptocurrency because donation documentation and compliance checks are harder to ensure.

Yes — the donation form lets you choose between one-time and monthly. You can cancel any time via a self-service link in the confirmation email. No hotline, no friction.

Non-restricted surplus funds remain within the gUG and are used for the next statutory charitable project — for example, another computer lab at a different school or additional equipment in Kumasi. The use of funds is published in our annual report.

Yes. The statutory requirements for charitable status of EmpowerED Africa gUG (haftungsbeschränkt) have been confirmed by Finanzamt Lübeck under §60a AO. Its purposes include promoting public and vocational education as well as development cooperation (§52 (2) Nos. 7 and 15 AO). HRB 26611 HL at Amtsgericht Lübeck.
